Father — We know that for those who desire darkness,
the sudden appearance of brilliant light brings blindness.
But for those who seek light; it brings sight, a clear view of the narrow path.
Lord, we thank you for the clergy you have called to serve as lamps along our path; pointing us toward yourself.
We thank you for our Bishops, our Priests, and our Deacons. We pray that you will bless them with confidence at altar and pulpit so that they may boldly proclaim the word of God for the people of God.

The Rector of our Church is out of town this week and thus not available for our Palm Sunday service. He is chaperoning a high school band trip to Walt Disney World in Orlando Florida. However, one of my favorite people within the ACNA is filling in for him today. Tara Jernigan, ArchDeacon of the Anglican Diocese of the Southwest. She is the author of a book about the Diaconate; This Foundational Order: The Historic Diaconate for the Modern Church. Tara describes herself as Anglo-Catholic, whereas I describe myself as Reformed Anglican. I used to have considerable suspicion of people in that camp. My conversations with her have made it possible to have unity with “the other side of the coin” so to speak. I am thankful for her insight.

Almighty and everlasting God, in your tender love for us you sent your Son our Savior Jesus Christ to take upon himself our nature, and to suffer death upon the cross, giving us the example of his great humility: Mercifully grant that we may walk in the way of his suffering, and come to share in his resurrection; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
