I don’t think humans will ever colonize Mars. I believe the technological and logistical obstacles are insurmountable. Even if we could overcome these challenges, we’re probably just a little too busy destroying one another here on this planet to be bothered with an international effort to expand the reach of humanity to another planet.
Ultimately, if we ever did manage to overcome the incredible challenges of getting ourselves to Mars with the hundreds of thousands of tons of materials and supplies required to support life on an inhospitable world, it would probably be something like living in a submarine.
But lets say that after a century of intense development, we finally achieve a truly livable colony on Mars. You know only rich people would move there.
