The Twelfth Sunday After Pentecost 2026 — Year A

The Twelfth Sunday After Pentecost. Sunday, Holy Day and Commemoration Lectionary. A.D. 2026 August 16

A Prayer before Procession

Heavenly Father, almighty God,

We, your unworthy servants, thank you for gathering us together this morning as your holy and blessed assembly.

We thank you, Lord, that in this chaotic world, you have provided us with a measure of safety and security that many in this world do not enjoy.

Lord, we pray that you will grant us pardon for those times we assume our own righteousness, looking down on others for their moral failures.

We pray also that you may bless our priest and our deacon with the peace of your Holy Spirit, so that from the pulpit and at the Lord’s table, they may have confidence to speak the words of God to the people of God.

We ask these things in the name of your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns together with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit. One God, now and forever. Amen.

Acclamations

Celebrant: Blessed be God: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
People: And blessed be his kingdom, now and for ever. Amen.

Collects

Keep your Church, O Lord, by your perpetual mercy; and because without you the frailty of our nature causes us to fall, keep us from all things hurtful, and lead us to all things profitable for our salvation; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.
