What precisely do you mean when you ask “If I could relive on year of my life …”?
That is a trick question, and my answer depends on your meaning.
If you are simply offering me a replay of events exactly as they happened, exactly in the time that they happened, giving me no awareness of the repetition and no agency to make different choices, then I think I would choose the year before I married. I had a friend with whom I drank a lot of beer, ate a lot of steak dinners, and played a lot of primitive video games. I felt free then. Indeed, I should have had him as a roommate and never married that woman.
But on the other hand, if you’re giving me full awareness of the repetition AND the agency to make different choices, I suppose that I would relive either my freshman or sophomore year of high school. I think by my junior year it was already too late to make any meaningful course correction. It wasn’t until later in my life that I discovered my true passions and callings. If I could relive that pivotal year, perhaps I could alter the tedious outcome that is my daily life now.
