It’s day two of the selective local blackout. Our electrical utility admits that they have not even bothered to investigate our service interruption. The map supplied on their status website says that fewer than 20 customers are without power. I don’t doubt that. As I previously described, there is a row of only eight homes along my street which chronically loose power when even the slightest inclement weather occurs.
The letter carrier just delivered the daily post. He told us, based on his conversations with workmen in adjacent areas, that we should expect to be without power for another four days.
This isn’t the aftermath of hurricane. yes, it was a notably powerful storm, but not cataclysmic. To my knowledge nobody died or was grievously injured as a direct result of the weather — thanks be to God — I am left wondering how the recovery process in a “city” of 14,000 could possible take four days.
