Personal Reflections
Shortly before I joined Westminster Presbyterian Church, their well-loved pastor had retired. The session had formed a committee to recruit a new pastor and the search was already well underway. Until a new permanent pastor is called, an interim pastor was filling in.
A member of the pastor nominating committee spoke during the Sunday service a few weeks ago. They announced that after a long search, they had selected a new pastor. It was also announced that the congregation would have an opportunity to meet the new pastor the following weekend.
I am very fond of the interim pastor. But I always knew that he wasn’t going to be with us forever. It will be good to have a more permanent figure leading our worship. I feel somewhat fortunate; I don’t have any attachment to the recently retired pastor. Her legacy does not negatively color my impression of the new pastor.
