Personal Reflections
Today’s service commemorates the 175th anniversary of Zion’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, the first English speaking Lutheran church in our area. Bishop Kurt Kusserow from the Southwestern Pennsylvania Synod of the ELCA will be preaching today. A small reception is planned to follow the service.
How could I not attend a service commemorating this occasion? I had previously met Bishop Kusserow by Zoom call, during the Synod assembly two years ago, but this was the first opportunity I had to meet him in person. Pastor Chaffee introduced me as his only adult baptism. Sometimes I really miss being a member of this church.
