Intruders, a BBC America original mini series

Intruders is a BBC America mini series from the writer and executive producer of The X-Files that reveals the existence of a secretive cult, whose members seek immortality by taking over the bodies of others. The series originally aired late in the summer of 2014. I think it was in august. You can check the IMDB page if you’re really interested in the episode air dates.

A rational man forced to confront the unknown.

Retired detective Jack Whalen (John Simm) has seen some horrific things in his career. Now he’s trying to settle into civilian life. Jack and his wife Amy (Mira Sorvino) live in a small town where he has become a minor celebrity after writing a book. Jack just wants to put the past behind him and reconnect with his wife … but there’s something unusual about Amy. She’s suddenly acting out of character and the detective in Jack can’t let that go.

During his unofficial investigation into his wife’s unusual behavior Jack stumbles across dark secrets and dangerous people. He is confronted with the possibility that Amy may no longer be the person he thinks she is … in fact, she might not even be Amy anymore.

In the beginning there was death.

Then a secret society learned to transcend mortality. Every human being is born with two souls, one passive and one dominant. Upon death, these Souls repeatedly manifest themselves within the living again and again throughout all of history. That society, the Qui Reverti, have identified which living people carry the passive souls of their members. They subvert the consciousness of the dominant soul allowing the intrusive souls of their members to take over and live once again.

Intruders is worth a Weekend Rewind

I really enjoyed Intruders when it aired but for some reason I didn’t write an article about it. I was just reminded of the series when I recently discovered “Stranger Things” on Netflix. That series also features the insanely talented young actress, Milllie Bobby Brown. This girl has a presence and awareness that I’ve never seen in a child actor before.

This series is definitely worth your time some weekend. If you’re anything like us, you can binge watch an entire television series on Netflix in only a few evenings. You probably run out of things to watch as quickly as we do. You won’t want to pass up the mystery Intruders has for you to solve.
